Backyard Builders LLC was founded by Wayne Paulsboe in 1998. Wayne first began building decks with his father when he was in high school as a summer job. After high school Wayne went to college to receive a degree in Fire Science Technology and then went on to a career of becoming a Firefighter/Paramedic. With a work schedule of 24 hours on and 48 hours off, he didn't idle on his days off and continued to work in the outdoor living field building decks on his off days from working at the fire department. This is where his building skills were noticed by a local award winning north shore custom inground pool company where he was solely contracted to build and complete the surrounding spaces of a project that included the pool. When the work load increased, Wayne decided to switch over to a part time volunteer firefighter and he was able to commit to building his company and brand and in turn has received multiple awards and featured multiple times in different magazines including Deck Specialist Magazine for Deck Builder of the Year, LUX Magazine for Incredible Outdoor Spaces and Outdoor Living Magazine for Deck & Patio Trends. Wayne has always been close to the outdoor living industry. By combining his creativity with his knowledge of the field, he strives to create designs that feel like a natural extension of your home, while maintaining a unique and personalized aesthetic. When you hire Backyard Builders, Wayne will be your point of contact throughout the entire project. He will be there to give you a consultation, design your project, and actually be there to build the project himself. He takes great pride in his work and believes that building a lasting reputation for high quality work is something that is done one project, and one client at a time. Backyard Builders is not a design and sell only firm, that means that we design, sell and build your project using our employees. Most other so-called deck building companies sell you a project then sub-contract all aspects of your job leaving your vision sold and built by the lowest bidder resulting in inferior materials and compromised build quality.
